Welcome to Blueprint

Blueprint is the online home for the Digital Harbor Foundation's Center of Excellence, and is where we share educator resources that are informed by our lessons learned from making with students.

Our goal is to provide educators access to student focused maker and technology content and resources. On Blueprint, we offer workshops, online courses, downloadable documents, project guides, and more.

This page will help you start navigating your maker and technology journey!

Getting Started Online Course

Maker education is rooted in creative problem solving and design thinking, and a Tech Center means community opportunities. Part makerspace and part career readiness training, Tech Center's are a great space for students to develop productive habits of mind.

How do you get one off the ground? We’ve put together this course to share resources and help  educators get started making with students.

This course is free for registered Blueprint users. Go ahead and register if you haven't already!

Professional Development Workshops

Our hands-on, intensive workshops are for all types of educators, whether formal or informal. We've worked with teachers, after-school instructors, science center staff, librarians, and any other educators interested in helping students to “learn by making."

Our workshops are designed so that you learn through activities, and include resources and projects for you to take back to your learning space to help build your capacity.

We offer training in a variety of topics, such as the foundations of making, 3D printing, programming, and electronics.

Makerspace Project Ideas

Here are some starter maker projects to do with your students to boost design thinking. They require basic skills, and inexpensive/common materials. We provide links to where you can purchase materials for each start project, so you won't need to spend time hunting down where to find things before you start.

These projects have been tested with and enjoyed by students from 3rd grade all the way up 12th grade and even with educators in our workshops.

Build Your Makerspace Furniture

You can’t buy a makerspace, you have to make one! These guides will help you build your own furniture for your school, library, or afterschool makerspace.

These furniture builds are a great way to involve students in your space to increase their buy-in and ownership. All of these builds are informed by our work with students, and our students have assembled the furniture in our space.

Each build guide includes all the tools, materials, and even a cut list you need for the project.
