Setup and Supplies

Making a 3D Printed Bubble Wand is a quick and simple 3D printing project! All you need is a paper, pencil and a dark marker to get started.

How to Create a 3D Printed Bubble Wand

Step 1: Pencil Drawing

On a half sheet of white copy paper draw a bubble wand.

Step 2: Trace Drawing

With a dark marker trace over the pencil drawing. This allows Doodlefab to more easily take a picture.

Step 3: Taking a picture

Use doodlefab.ninja to convert your drawing into an svg. File. “Allow” Doodlefab to use your computer’s camera.

Step 4: Taking a Picture Continued

Hold drawing up and click on “Take Snapshot.” (It helps to have a partner hold the drawing as you click the Take Snapshot button).

Step 5: Crop

Drag the outline to fit just around the bubble wand. Click on “Convert to SVG.”

Step 6: Download SVG

If drawing looks good click on “Download SVG.”

Step 7: Tinkercad

Upon opening TInkercad click on “Edit grid.”

Step 8: Change Work Plane

Change height and width to fit your printer bed. Click “Update grid.”

Step 9: Import SVG

Click on “Choose File.” Locate your SVG file.

Step 10: Change Size

Change the size of the bubble wand. Find “Scale” and type in 60 percent. Click on “Import.”

Step 11: Scale Down

If bubble wand came in too large scale it down by holding down “shift” and dragging a corner square around the bubble wand.

Step 12: Activate Ruler

Under “Helpers” click on “Ruler.” By than clicking onto the workplane you are now able to type in exact measurements.

Step 13: Change Height

Change height of your bubble wand to 3mm.

Step 14: Download for 3D printing

Click File and Download for 3D printing.

Step 15: Export as an .STL

Click on .STL

Step 16: 3D print Wand

3D print your bubble wand.

Step 17: Blow Bubbles

Now that your bubble wand is complete you are able to blow bubbles either with store bought bubble solution or homemade.
