Workshop: IoT for Educators

The Internet of Things is the next frontier in emerging technology, and a great union of hands-on projects and computer programming.

In this workshop, educators will learn how to program connected devices to monitor and interact with the world around them. The workshop will include training and materials to support step-by-step projects that allow youth to interact with and monitor their environment while collecting real-world data.

Imagine using a temperature and humidity sensor to collect data and upload it to either a page on the Internet or a Google spreadsheet. Youth can then analyze this collected data to see what is happening in the world around them. This could be used to track the temperature in a room or a garden, or build your own weather station. The real world data can then be used as a teaching tool to find averages, highs, lows and trends.
